The Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP) began in Manitoba in 1991.
The program was initially guided by local law enforcement and Manitoba Justice. From there, partnerships were formed with the local communities with a goal of making their communities safer.
They came together to provide community based groups province wide throughout the province with the opportunity to access Support Information training basic equipment networking opportunities.
Winnipeg Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police participate as active members on the program’s resource council to assist and guide the continuing success of the Manitoba Citizens on Patrol Program.
